The Poudre Landmarks Foundation requested that the Architectural Preservation Institute provide mortar analysis, water absorption rates, and a history of the brick materials used in the construction of the Fort Collins Water works plant, built in 1882 -1883 and doubled in size from 1894 - 1895.

In an era of terrifying water-born diseases, the waterworks played a pivotal role in the growth of the town of Fort Collins into a thriving regional metropolitan center.
